We are seeking skilled Furniture and Sofa Carpenters to craft, assemble, repair, and restore various types of furniture, including sofas, chairs, tables, cabinets, and other wood or upholstery-based items. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in woodworking, upholstery, and furniture finishing, with an eye for detail and craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to understand project specifications.
Cut, shape, assemble, and finish wood, upholstery, and other materials to create furniture pieces such as sofas, chairs, tables, and cabinetry.
Upholster sofas and furniture, including padding, fabric, and leather covers.
Repair or restore damaged or worn furniture, ensuring quality and durability.
Measure and mark materials accurately for cutting and assembly.
Operate hand tools, power tools, and specialized machinery safely and efficiently.
Apply finishes such as staining, painting, or varnishing to achieve desired aesthetics.
Collaborate with clients, designers, and other team members to ensure the final product meets specifications and quality standards.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety regulations.
Keep records of work done, materials used, and project timelines.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a furniture or sofa carpenter, woodworker, or in a similar role.
Knowledge of carpentry techniques, upholstery, and finishing processes.
Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
Proficiency in using carpentry tools and machinery.
Attention to detail and a high standard of craftsmanship.
Physical dexterity and strength to handle heavy materials and work in various positions.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Skills:
Formal training or apprenticeship in carpentry, furniture making, or upholstery.
Familiarity with modern furniture design trends and materials.
Experience working with bespoke or custom furniture projects.
Work Environment:
Workshop or carpentry shop environment.
May involve working at client sites for installation or repair.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
