Job Description

A Formwork/Scaffolding Department Engineer is responsible for the design, planning, and supervision of formwork and scaffolding systems used in construction projects. This includes ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. They create detailed drawings, conduct load calculations, and develop method statements for the safe erection and use of these temporary structures.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Planning:

Preparing formwork and scaffolding design drawings and technical documents.

Conducting load calculations and structural analysis of formwork and scaffolding systems.

Developing method statements for the erection, use, and dismantling of formwork and scaffolding.

Selecting appropriate materials and equipment for the project.

Preparing material lists and BOQs (Bill of Quantities).

Project Coordination and Supervision:

Collaborating with project managers, site engineers, and construction teams.

Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company standards.

Conducting site visits and inspections to monitor the progress and safety of the work.

Providing technical support and guidance to site personnel.

Supervising the erection, use, and dismantling of formwork and scaffolding.

Quality Control:

Identifying and addressing defects in formwork and scaffolding systems.

Ensuring that the systems are stable, safe, and fit for purpose.

Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to formwork and scaffolding.

Cost Management:

Assisting with material forecasting and cost optimization.

Helping to develop cost-effective formwork and scaffolding solutions.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

UPDA is required.

Experience in formwork and scaffolding design and implementation.

Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) and structural analysis software.

Strong knowledge of relevant standards and regulations (e.g., BS, EN, QS2014).

Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Experience with large-scale infrastructure or commercial projects is often preferred.
