Job Description

Education Secondary school High school, Diploma / Basic Engineering or equivalent Training 2 years of trade apprentice course. Leadership training, OEM training. Experience 3-5 years of relevant experience in shipyard or marine industry as foreman / charge-hand. 3 years as charge hand at similar capacity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Policies, Processes & Procedures: Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner. Follow and comply to Information Security Rules and data security measures in order to protect the company information / intellectual properties.

Day-to-day operations: Withdrawal of propeller shaft, rudder work, thrusters and slinging. Mechanical work on shaft coupling bolts and stern tube seals etc. Assign right number of rudder & propeller fitters for job in a balanced way and according to their experience Plan tools and equipment and supervise fitters to hook up rigging equipment for heavy lifting. Liaise with other discipline foremen / supervision to ensure the optimum utilization of available resources, with the overall objective of successful completion of the project. Assist the senior foreman and supervisors in planning activities. Perform inspections to ensure that the workers performance is up to the set standards. Motivate, coach, develop and appraise subordinates. Create progress reports on a daily basis and ensure that any significant information is communicated to the supervisor i.e. resource shortfalls, surplus, HSEQ concerns. Follow the day-to-day operations related to own job to ensure continuity of work.

KEY COMPETENCIES Language skills: Good knowledge of English language Knowledge of other languages will be an added advantage.

Technical competencies: Ability to read, interpret and follow method statements and procedures, specifications, drawings, and all other discipline related project and engineering documentation. Familiar with dismantling and rigging rudder, propeller and shafts of crude oil tankers. Ability to dismantle and push up propeller, muff coupling and rudderstock. Familiar with lifting equipment's and SWL (safe working load). Able to do calculation.
