The

Food Runner

acts as a crucial link between the kitchen and the dining area, ensuring that every dish is delivered promptly, accurately, and beautifully presented. This role demands efficiency, attention to detail, and teamwork to ensure that the guest experience reflects the quality and creativity of Yana's cuisine.

Food Runners play an integral role in maintaining Yana's service flow -- ensuring plates are served hot, tables are attended to promptly, and every guest feels valued and cared for.

Key Responsibilities:Guest Service & Presentation

Deliver food from the kitchen to the dining area swiftly, accurately, and courteously. Confirm that each dish leaving the kitchen matches order specifications, ensuring correct garnishes, temperatures, and presentation standards. Present dishes to guests with confidence, clearly describing menu items when needed, and assisting with guest inquiries about ingredients or dietary concerns. Ensure each guest receives attentive service throughout their meal, including refilling beverages, clearing plates, and anticipating needs. Maintain a polished and professional demeanor that reflects Yana's high hospitality standards at all times.

Communication & Coordination

Act as the direct line of communication between kitchen staff, servers, and management during service. Relay special requests, modifications, or dietary requirements accurately and promptly to the appropriate team members. Monitor the flow of dishes coming from the kitchen to maintain timely and balanced delivery to all tables. Notify servers and managers immediately of any issues with orders, delays, or guest feedback. Assist in coordinating large party or multi-course service to ensure smooth and synchronized timing.

Team Support & Efficiency

Work closely with servers, bussers, and kitchen staff to ensure a smooth and efficient dining service. Assist servers with delivering additional items such as condiments, side dishes, or share plates as needed. Support the bussing team by clearing and resetting tables quickly and neatly between guests. Keep service stations and the expo line organized and well-stocked with trays, napkins, silverware, and glassware. Help maintain a clean and organized pass area, ensuring efficient transitions between courses.

Cleanliness & Safety

Follow all Yana Restaurant food handling, hygiene, and sanitation standards in accordance with local health codes. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of workstations, including the pass, dining area, and service stations. Handle all serving trays, utensils, and dishes safely to prevent spills, accidents, or contamination. Report any broken equipment, unsafe conditions, or maintenance needs to management immediately. Participate in end-of-shift cleaning duties, including wiping surfaces, organizing stations, and restocking supplies.

Professionalism & Learning

Continuously build knowledge of Yana's Pan-Asian and Peruvian fusion menu to confidently assist guests and support servers. Embody Yana's values of teamwork, respect, and dedication to service excellence. Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment, supporting colleagues as needed during high-volume periods.

Qualifications & Skills:

Previous experience in a restaurant or hospitality environment preferred, but training is provided for the right candidate. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Positive attitude, professionalism, and a commitment to exceptional guest service. Ability to multitask and stay composed under pressure. Keen attention to detail and ability to deliver orders accurately. Eagerness to learn about Yana's fusion cuisine and share that enthusiasm with guests. Flexible availability -- must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand, walk, and carry trays for extended periods. Comfortable moving quickly through a fast-paced, high-energy dining environment.
