Oversee the operation and maintenance of all electrical systems within the facility, including power distribution, lighting systems, transformers, switchboards, backup generators, UPS systems, and electrical panels.
Ensure electrical systems are functioning optimally and meet operational, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Conduct regular inspections and testing of electrical systems to identify and resolve issues proactively.
Monitor energy consumption, identify areas for improvement, and recommend energy-saving measures.
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance:
Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for electrical systems to ensure reliable operation and to avoid system failures.
Oversee corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems when issues arise.
Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure that all work is carried out safely and efficiently.
Team Supervision & Training:
Supervise and coordinate a team of electrical technicians, ensuring that they perform tasks according to safety standards and best practices.
Develop work schedules, allocate tasks, and monitor the performance of electrical staff.
Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, ensuring they are knowledgeable about electrical safety, compliance, and technical procedures.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure that electrical systems comply with local, national, and international safety standards, regulations, and building codes (e.g., NEC, OSHA, IEC).
Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures.
Ensure compliance with electrical safety practices, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, proper PPE, and other workplace safety protocols.
Lead electrical safety drills and emergency response training for staff.
Energy Management & Efficiency:
Monitor and analyze energy usage across the facility to identify opportunities for energy conservation and cost reduction.
Implement energy-efficient systems and recommend upgrades, such as LED lighting, energy-efficient motors, and other energy-saving technologies.
Track energy consumption data and generate reports for management to help with budgeting and cost forecasting.
Vendor & Service Coordination:
Manage relationships with external contractors, suppliers, and service providers for electrical equipment, maintenance, and repairs.
Oversee the procurement of electrical materials, parts, and equipment, ensuring that products meet quality standards and are within budget.
Ensure that electrical systems are regularly inspected by external specialists (e.g., generator maintenance contractors), and that service contracts are in place.
Budgeting & Cost Control:
Prepare and manage the electrical maintenance budget, ensuring that expenditures align with allocated funds.
Monitor costs related to electrical repairs, equipment replacement, and service contracts.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and provide recommendations for reducing electrical operational costs.
Reporting & Documentation:
Maintain detailed records of electrical systems, including schematics, maintenance logs, equipment warranties, and inspection reports.
Provide regular reports on electrical system performance, maintenance activities, energy consumption, and issues to senior management.
Ensure that all work is properly documented and that reports are kept up to date for compliance and operational efficiency.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field.
Professional certifications such as
Certified Facility Manager (CFM)
or
LEED Certification
(optional but advantageous).
Experience:
5+ years of experience in electrical engineering or facilities management, particularly in large-scale or commercial buildings.
Experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems, including generators, switchgear, UPS systems, and lighting systems.
At least 2-3 years in a supervisory or managerial role within facilities or electrical maintenance.
Skills:
In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, and backup systems.
Familiarity with relevant electrical codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NEC, IEC, OSHA).
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team of electrical technicians.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and addressing electrical issues.
Strong knowledge of energy management and efficiency practices.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electrical maintenance software (CMMS or similar).
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) in English; additional language skills may be beneficial.
