Introduction The Fleet Engineering Assurance Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and operational excellence of marine activities within an organization. This position is pivotal in managing risks, upholding industry standards, and facilitating continuous improvement in marine engineering operations. Office Locations Any Tidewater Location. Role Summary The Fleet Engineering Assurance Manager oversees all aspects of marine assurance, including vessel engine room and equipment inspections, regulatory compliance, risk assessment, and vessel crew practices. They act as the key point of contact for internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies, ensuring that all marine operations adhere to industry best practices and legal requirements. Main Responsibilities Vessel Assurance: Conducts regular audits and inspections of vessels to verify compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards. Regulatory Compliance: Ensures all marine activities conform to local, national, and international regulations, including ISM Code, MARPOL, SOLAS, Flag State, Class Society, and other relevant frameworks. Risk Assessment: Identifies potential risks associated with marine operations and develops mitigation strategies to reduce incidents and liabilities.. Stakeholder Engagement: Maintains effective communication with regulatory authorities, clients, contractors, and internal teams to promote a safety culture and operational transparency. Continuous Improvement: Implements best practices and lessons learned from audits and incidents to drive ongoing improvements in marine assurance processes. Training and Development: Organizes and delivers training sessions on marine safety, machinery and equipment preventive maintenance, regulatory compliance, and emergency response. Key Competencies Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of vessel machinery and systems, vessel operations, and risk management methodologies. Analytical Skills: Ability to assess complex situations, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting, training, and stakeholder engagement. Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams, manage projects, and influence organizational safety culture. Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in inspections, reporting, and documentation. Problem-Solving: Capacity to address issues proactively and implement improvements in marine assurance practices. Qualifications and Experience BacheloraEUR(TM)s degree in Marine Engineering, Marine Transportation or equivalent. Sailing experience of 10+ years as a senior licensed seagoing engineer or mate. Licensed Class 1 / Chief Engineer or Master. At least 5 years experience sailing as Chief Engineer or Master. Familiarity with international maritime regulations and standards. Knowledge of Flag State and Class Society rules and regulations. Experience as a Class Society Marine Surveyor would be advantageous. Willingness to travel extensively to conduct vessel inspections on a global basis,220+ travel days per year. Experience working with and managing crew members from multiple nationalities. Experience with TM2 preventive maintenance system.
