Job Description

Job Summary:
A Fitter is responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical components, machinery, and structures. They interpret blueprints, use precision tools, and ensure that parts fit correctly according to specifications. Fitters work in industries such as manufacturing, construction, shipbuilding, automotive, and aerospace.
Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Measure, cut, shape, and assemble metal or other materials using hand and power tools.
• Fit, align, and secure components using bolts, screws, welding, or adhesives.
• Inspect fabricated parts for accuracy and quality, ensuring compliance with standards.
• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on machinery and equipment.
• Operate machinery such as lathes, grinders, drills, and CNC machines (if required).
• Collaborate with engineers, welders, and other technicians to complete projects.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
• Report defects, malfunctions, or deviations from specifications to supervisors.

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship in fitting/machining preferred.
• Experience: 1-3 years of experience as a fitter or in a related mechanical role.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers), welding, grinding, and drilling.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods, and work in various environments.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., welding, OSHA safety) may be required.

• Workshop, factory, construction site, or shipyard.
• Exposure to noise, dust, and machinery hazards (PPE required).
• May involve overtime, shift work, or on-call duties.
