Job Summary:

The Fire Fighting Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire protection systems and equipment. This includes fire alarms, sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, and other fire suppression systems. The technician will ensure that all fire safety equipment is in compliance with local codes and regulations and is operating effectively to protect people and property from fire hazards. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of fire safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Installation of Fire Protection Systems:

Install and configure fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and fire suppression equipment according to design specifications and safety standards. Perform wiring, connection, and testing of fire alarm systems and components. Ensure proper placement and installation of fire extinguishers and emergency signage.

Maintenance and Inspection:

Conduct regular inspections and testing of fire protection systems to ensure they are functioning correctly. Perform routine maintenance on fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and fire extinguishers. Identify and repair or replace defective parts and components to maintain system integrity.

System Testing and Troubleshooting:

Test fire alarm systems using specialized tools to verify operation and signal strength. Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions or failures and implement corrective actions. Perform flow tests on sprinkler systems to verify water pressure and distribution.

Compliance and Documentation:

Ensure all fire protection systems and equipment comply with local fire codes and regulations. Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs performed. Prepare and submit detailed reports on the status of fire safety systems and any issues identified.

Emergency Response and Support:

Respond to fire emergencies and assist in activating fire protection systems as needed. Provide technical support and guidance during fire drills and emergency evacuations. Train employees on the proper use of fire extinguishers and fire safety procedures.

Safety and Quality Assurance:

Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries. Ensure that all work is completed to high-quality standards and within established timelines. Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and new technologies in fire protection.
