The Fire Fighting Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire protection systems including fire alarms, sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, fire pumps, and other fire suppression equipment. The technician ensures all fire safety systems comply with local codes, standards, and regulations to protect life and property.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, inspect, maintain, and repair fire protection systems including:
Fire alarm panels and devices
Fire sprinkler systems
Fire suppression systems (FM-200, CO2, foam, etc.)
Fire hydrants and hose reels
Portable fire extinguishers
Conduct regular preventive maintenance and functionality checks on fire safety equipment.
Perform testing of fire alarm systems as per NFPA standards or local authority requirements.
Maintain accurate service records and reports.
Respond to emergency calls related to fire protection systems.
Work closely with safety officers, facility managers, and external inspection bodies.
Follow safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Participate in fire drills and training exercises.
Ensure compliance with fire safety regulations and report any discrepancies.
Qualifications & Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in fire protection or related field is a plus.
Minimum of 2-5 years experience in fire safety system maintenance or similar role.
Knowledge of NFPA codes and standards, local fire safety regulations.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and fire system layouts.
Familiarity with tools and equipment used in fire system servicing.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Good physical condition; able to lift equipment and work in confined or elevated areas.
Valid driver's license (if travel between sites is required).
