The Fire Alarm Technician will work with the IIQAF team to design, install, and service fire alarm systems in commercial and public locations. They will use their knowledge of codes and standards to perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on fire alarm systems to ensure they are in compliance. The Fire Alarm Technician will be responsible for providing technical support to other departments within IIQAF, and helping to educate customers on code compliance and fire safety.
Responsibilities:
Design, install, and service fire alarm systems in commercial and public locations in accordance with NFPA standards, codes, and IIQAF procedures.
Perform regular testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting on existing fire alarm systems.
Perform periodic inspections, maintenance checks, and code reviews to ensure fire alarm systems are in compliance.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting advice to other departments.
Troubleshoot and repair any malfunctioning fire alarm systems.
Ensure proper documentation and records are updated after installation, maintenance, or repairs.
Educate customers on proper use and maintenance of fire alarm systems.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous experience in fire alarm installation and service preferred
Thorough understanding of NFPA codes, standards, and OSHA regulations
Ability to provide customer service and technical support to other departments
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
