Purpose and Scope:
The Fire Alarm Lead manages, provides work direction to assigned Fire Alarm and Fire Suppression Technicians and oversees all aspects of the areas outlined in the PWS. Work with other craftsman or crews in the performance of assigned work duties. Coordinates work/inspections with facility managers/occupants. Essential Responsibilities: Fire Alarm Lead manages, provides work direction to assigned Fire Alarm and Fire Suppression Technicians and oversees all aspects of the areas outlined in the PWS. Work with other craftsman or crews in the performance of assigned work duties. Fire Alarm Lead is responsible to perform all assigned duties as safely and efficiently as possible to maintain a safe work environment. Inspects, tests, installs and modifies control panels. Able to use test instruments. Knowledgeable in analog and digital electronics. Able to read and interpret work orders, parts requests, drawings/schematics/blueprints and manuals in order to accomplish assigned duties. Must be able to troubleshoot and identify problems. Research and requisitions materials and prepares necessary documents and reports. Makes necessary repairs to fire alarm systems for compliance with specifications. Responds to emergency repair calls to restore operations upon notice during regular hours or after duty on-call hours. Accomplishes periodic inspections, recurring maintenance requirements and associated documentation. Maintains systems to conform to written guidance and applicable changes. Maintains required operating forms and records and assures proper use of all assigned shop equipment. Responsible for on-the-job training as required. Establishes goals and assigns tasks within their sections as directed by the Customer during normal and overtime periods. Assures the assigned tasks are performed within the specified timeframes while meeting safety and quality standards as required by the program. Provides input to the Site Manager/Customer on any issues as it relates to fire alarm and fire suppression contract requirements. Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Fire Alarm Lead must be NICET Level III Certified in Fire Alarm Systems with 8 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience. Must possess basis skills in computer operations. Must have ability to read, interpret and apply TM instructions, publications, and safety rules. Must have ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Minimum of 8 years\xe2\x80\x99 as a Fire Alarm Technician with experience working on Monaco and Simplex fire alarm equipment. Excellent communication and people skills. Valid State driver\xe2\x80\x99s license required. Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance. REQUIRED EDUCATION: Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Associates degree or equivalent combination of academic/technical/military training and experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in managing personnel in a military environment or on a government contract overseas. Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a SECRET Clearance. Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat risk and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel: reach with hands and arms: talk or hear: and taste or smell. Requires climbing on ladders, scaffolding, and platforms: standing, bending, and working in cramped areas: lifting and carrying tools and equipment which occasionally may weigh over 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Physically fit to stand and bend for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds. Mandatory use of appropriate Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE). Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable. Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions. Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions. Must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able to work under deadlines. Must have the ability to work well with others, to include the Government.
