Lead, motivate, and manage finishing crews and subcontractors, including drywallers, painters, floor installers, ceiling trades, carpenters, and door/hardware specialists.
Read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and shop drawings to direct work accurately.
Conduct daily toolbox talks and pre-task planning meetings with the crew.
Assign tasks, provide clear instructions, and ensure all team members have the resources and information needed to perform their jobs effectively.
Perform continuous inspections of all finishing work to ensure it meets the project's stringent quality standards, design specifications, and building codes.
Implement and enforce a "zero defects" policy, identifying and rectifying deficiencies promptly before subsequent trades begin their work.
Manage the punch list process, coordinating with the Project Manager and quality control team to ensure timely and thorough completion.
Verify the quality of materials delivered to the site and report any discrepancies or damage.
Work closely with the Project Manager to develop and maintain detailed short-interval schedules for all finishing activities.
Coordinate the sequence of work between multiple finishing trades to maximize efficiency and minimize conflicts or damage to completed work.
Manage material logistics and storage within the building, coordinating with the logistics manager for timely delivery to various floors via construction hoists.
Enforce all company and site-specific safety policies and procedures without exception.
Ensure a clean and safe work environment is maintained at all times, including proper housekeeping and waste management on assigned floors.
Conduct regular safety inspections of work areas, equipment, and tools.
Ensure all personnel have the required safety certifications (e.g., working at heights, WHMIS) and use proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
Requirements:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction finishing, with at least 7 years in a foreman or lead role specifically on high-rise projects.
Proven experience with interior finish systems: framing/drywall, plaster, painting, flooring (hardwood, tile, carpet), millwork, acoustical ceilings, and door/hardware installation.
