Job Description

The Finishing Carpenter is responsible for the installation and finishing of interior structures and features in residential, commercial, or industrial settings. This role requires a keen eye for detail, craftsmanship, and the ability to work collaboratively with other trades to complete projects to high standards.

Key Responsibilities

Installation

Install and finish various types of interior fixtures, including trim, moldings, doors, windows, cabinets, and countertops. Measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, and other materials with precision. Ensure all installations are level, square, and in alignment with project specifications.

Finishing Work

Apply stains, paints, and finishes to wood surfaces, ensuring a high-quality appearance. Sand, polish, and touch up surfaces to achieve desired aesthetics. Perform repairs and maintenance on existing fixtures and finishes as needed.

Collaboration and Communication

Work closely with project managers, architects, and other trades to understand project requirements and timelines. Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and preferences. Assist in training and mentoring junior carpenters and apprentices.

Quality Control and Safety

Ensure all work complies with building codes, safety regulations, and company standards. Inspect completed work for quality and accuracy, making adjustments as necessary. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to safety protocols.
Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a carpentry apprenticeship or vocational training is preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of experience in carpentry, specifically in finishing work.

Skills:

Proficient in using carpentry tools and equipment, including saws, drills, and sanders. Strong understanding of carpentry techniques, materials, and finishing processes. Basic mathematical skills for accurate measurements and calculations.
