The Position

Drakken is recruiting for a Finance manager position, which will provide support to the organization by managing accounting procedure, cashflows, project accounting procedure, and financial reporting activities. This position plays a key role in providing support to the project management and senior management teams for all activities undertaken by the group. The position supports all aspects of the accounting cycle. The position is responsible for following the standards implemented in the department and contributing to an environment focused on continuous improvement and total quality.

The successful candidate would have the following responsibilities (but not limited to):
  • Manage and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded in accounting system.
  • Manage accounting and finance function, Xero Accounting software, HR and Administration.
  • Maintain, enhance and develop a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Manage and maintain accounting files and records as per best practises in Finance.
  • Prepare monthly management reports for Senior Management and Board of Directors.
  • Review, manage and distribute collection report and cash flow statement weekly to Senior Management.
  • Verify invoices for accuracy, completion as to prices, durations, conclusion of campaigns, booking orders, contracts and confirmations.
  • Verify and manage supplier invoices (costs, quotations, LPO's, approval and delivery).
  • To support in the preparation of Budget and various forecasts.
  • To coordinate between Finance Department and Sales Department records for variances.
  • Ensure all accounts are prepared and maintained as per best practises for company audit.
  • Proactive in identifying areas of concern within business and provide solutions for Senior Management.
  • Interpret the company's financial results to management and recommend improvement activities.
  • Review company bottlenecks and recommend changes to improve the overall level of company throughput.
  • Manage employee benefits and payroll as per labour contracts and labour laws applicable.
  • Ensure Trade licenses and company documents are maintained up to date.
  • Manage procurement of office equipment's and other necessities in a cost-effective manner.
  • Manage accounts payable and perform reconciliations of vendor accounts.
  • Liaise with senior management.
  • Liaise with external auditors as the primary point of contact.
  • Liaise with project teams.
  • Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closings for the Canadian Company and the UAE Company.
  • Reconcile inter-company transactions.
Other Information:
  • The project management teams are responsible for the following activities:
  • Timesheet approval
  • Expense report approval
  • Invoice generation and issuance
  • Project-based procurement
  • The organization uses Xero, a cloud-based accounting software.
  • The Company has two main offices: The United Arab Emirates and Canada. The Candidate will be responsible for finance activity in both organizations.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Minimum seven years' accounting experience in an audit firm environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, commerce, business administration or other finance-based discipline.
  • Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Professional Accountant (CPA), CIMA, ACCA or similar designation.
  • Experienced in Xero
  • Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Project-based organization experience preferred.
  • Perfect written and spoken English.
  • Excellent communication with the ability to interpret needs and express ideas clearly.
  • Excellent technical and systems skill.
  • Highly discrete and able to uphold the utmost confidentiality.
  • Self-confident and very proactive.
  • Prepared to be hands-on to achieve results and maintain deadlines.
  • Must be highly self-motivated and demonstrate exceptional leadership skills.
  • Efficient organizational skills with the ability to thrive well in a deadline oriented environment.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of project management principles.
  • Experience with an online accounting system is an asset.
  • Strong MS Office skills
  • Experienced with system and process implementation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of client companies and related parties.
  • Desire to work in a fast-growing environment and have their hands in multiple areas of the business.
  • Culturally aware and sensitive.
