To provide installation, measurement, testing, fault diagnosis, and repair of the passive components of contracted Fibre Optic Networks for customers.
Principal Duties:
Perform Fibre Optic cable installations as directed, following documented FOSS internal working practices as guidelines.
Conduct termination and splicing of Fibre Optic cables as specified in FOSS internal practice documentation.
Perform both pre- and post-installation tests, diagnosing and rectifying any issues with installed Fibre Optic cables.
Document all test results obtained, ensuring completion of all tests as outlined in the agreed Sales quotation.
Record any additional work completed, securing customer sign-off as a variation to the original contract.
Obtain customer sign-off for all completed work within target times and with minimal costs.
Mandatory Skills:
Strong knowledge of Fibre Optic working practices and applications.
Proficiency in splicing, terminating, and dressing various types of Fibre Optic cables and connectors.
Ability to conduct Drum tests, Post Installation testing, and End-to-End testing using an OTDR.
Skilled in testing installed Fibre Optic cables using a light source and power meter.
Thorough understanding of test theory and additional testing capabilities (e.g., Fibre Characterisation).
Knowledge of Structured Cabling Systems and their role in data communications.
Good command of spoken and written English.
Valid UAE driving license.
