The Sheep Farm Worker is responsible for the daily care, feeding, health, and general management of sheep. The role includes maintaining cleanliness, assisting with breeding and lambing, and ensuring the overall welfare of the animals.
Key Responsibilities:
Feed sheep according to schedule and ensure clean drinking water at all times
Clean sheep pens, sheds, and surrounding farm areas
Monitor sheep health and report illness or injuries to the supervisor
Assist with lambing, breeding, tagging, and vaccination programs
Administer basic animal care under supervision (drenching, deworming, etc.)
Move and handle sheep safely for treatment, shearing, or transport
Maintain farm equipment, fences, and feeding tools
Keep records of feeding, breeding, and health when required
Follow farm safety, hygiene, and biosecurity rules
Job Requirements:
Basic knowledge of sheep handling and animal care
Skills & Competencies:
Patience and care for animals
Basic understanding of animal health and hygiene
Ability to work independently when required
Good communication skills
Working Conditions:
Outdoor and indoor farm environment
Exposure to animals, dust, and farm machinery
Long working hours during lambing or peak seasons
Previous farm or livestock experience preferred
Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
