JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for false ceiling laborer, often called a

Gypsum Carpenter

or

Ceiling Fixer

, is responsible for installing, repairing, and finishing various ceiling systems according to technical drawings and safety standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for the precise installation of various false ceiling systems (gypsum board, suspended grid, bulkheads, etc.) in commercial and residential properties, ensuring all work meets quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Installation:

Measure, cut, and install ceiling materials and panels to specific dimensions and layouts.

Framing:

Frame and install metal or wooden support structures for false ceilings and partitions.

Finishing:

Apply joint tape and compound to seams and sand surfaces in preparation for painting or other finishes.

Blueprint Reading:

Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to plan installation procedures.

Material Handling:

Safely load, unload, and transport materials and equipment on and off the job site.

Site Coordination:

Cut openings for fixtures like lights, AC vents, and electrical outlets, coordinating with other tradespeople (electricians, painters, etc.) to ensure seamless integration of services.

Quality Control:

Inspect installations to ensure proper alignment, level, and adherence to project specifications.

Safety & Cleanup:

Adhere strictly to all company and site-specific safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Qualifications & Skills

Experience:

Proven experience in false ceiling, gypsum board, or drywall installation is required (minimum 2 years often requested).

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in using hand and power tools common to the trade (saws, drills, levels, T-squares, etc.).

Physical Stamina:

The role requires physical fitness, including the ability to lift heavy materials and work at heights on ladders or scaffolding.

Attention to Detail:

Strong attention to detail and precision in measurements to ensure high-quality finishes.

Soft Skills:

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Good communication skills. Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
