Supervise the planned preventive maintenance (PPM) program for all critical hospital systems, including HVAC, medical gases, electrical systems, plumbing, water treatment, and fire safety systems.
Respond to and prioritize maintenance requests and emergencies promptly to minimize disruption to clinical activities.
Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify and address issues related to building integrity, grounds, and equipment.
Manage and oversee work performed by external contractors and vendors, ensuring quality and compliance with hospital standards.
2. Team Leadership & Supervision:
Lead, schedule, and manage a team of maintenance technicians and custodial staff.
Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching, and identify training needs to enhance team skills.
Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.
3. Compliance & Safety:
Ensure strict adherence to all local health authority regulations, JCI standards, and Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) protocols.
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, inspections, and compliance reports.
Act as a key point of contact for facility-related safety audits and implement corrective actions as required.
Oversee the hospital's waste management and disposal procedures in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
4. Project & Inventory Management:
Assist in managing small-scale renovation and improvement projects from conception to completion.
Monitor and manage inventory of tools, spare parts, and critical supplies to ensure operational continuity.
Assist in preparing the annual maintenance budget and operate within its constraints.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
within a hospital or healthcare environment
.
Proven hands-on experience with hospital-critical systems (e.g., BMS, Medical Gases, HVAC for critical areas).
Certifications (Preferred):
Certification in Facility Management (CFM) or similar is an advantage.
Training in Healthcare Engineering, Safety (OSHA/NFPA), or Infection Control is highly desirable.
Required Skills & Knowledge
In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations, JCI standards, and Life Safety Codes.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clinical staff, management, and vendors.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple emergencies simultaneously.
Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office.
Working Conditions
Must be available for on-call duties and respond to emergencies outside of regular working hours.
The role involves working in a clinical environment and may require exposure to noise, chemicals, and other occupational hazards, for which appropriate PPE will be provided.
