Job summary

The Facade Engineer will be responsible for managing all technical and construction-related aspects of the building envelope for high-rise projects. This includes developing and reviewing designs, performing engineering analysis, ensuring on-site installation quality, and coordinating with all project stakeholders from the design phase through project handover.

Key responsibilities

Design and engineering

Prepare design documents, specifications, and calculations for facade systems such as curtain walls and cladding. Analyze structural, thermal, and acoustic performance to meet building codes (e.g., ASTM, BS, EN). Coordinate with other disciplines to integrate facade designs. Select appropriate facade materials. Use BIM software for 3D modeling and clash detection. Support material testing.

Site execution and quality control

Supervise on-site installation and ensure quality and safety. Inspect work for compliance with specifications. Resolve site issues. Review contractor submissions. Assist with material procurement.

Project coordination

Act as the main technical contact for facade aspects. Communicate with the project team to align facade progress with the overall schedule. Maintain project documentation and reports.

Qualifications and skills

Education:

Bachelor's degree in engineering; a postgraduate degree in Facade Engineering is beneficial.

Experience:

At least 5 years in facade design and construction, ideally on high-rise projects.

Technical expertise:

Knowledge of facade systems and proficiency in software like AutoCAD and Revit.

Knowledge of standards:

Familiarity with international facade standards and building codes.

Interpersonal skills:

Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

Work ethic:

Capable of working under pressure and managing multiple tasks.
