Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Facade Designer is responsible for developing and preparing detailed facade system designs, shop drawings, and fabrication drawings for aluminium, glazing, curtain wall, and cladding projects. This role requires technical precision, compliance with project specifications, and close coordination with project teams to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and meet architectural intent.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design Development

Lead the facade design process from concept to completion stage. Develop system designs for curtain walls, cladding, glazing, louvers, Canopies, Pergolas, Steel Structures and other facade elements. Ensure designs align with architectural intent, engineering requirements, and project specifications.

2. Drawing & Documentation

Prepare detailed 2D Shop Drawings includes the Plan, Schedule, Elevation and Section details of all facade elements. Review and approve shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and material take-o?s. Maintain design documentation for coordination and submission purposes.

3. Material Take-O? (MTO) Preparation

Prepare complete Material Take-O? (MTO) during the design phase for all facade components including Aluminum profiles, glass, cladding, and accessories. Coordinate with procurement and planning teams to ensure material accuracy and budget alignment.

4. Cutting Lists & Fabrication Release

Generate cutting lists for Aluminum profiles and release sizes for glass and metal works. Provide production-ready fabrication details to the factory team in a timely and accurate manner. Ensure all fabrication drawings are coordinated with site measurements and approved design.

5. Engineering Analysis

Support structural, thermal, and acoustic performance evaluation of facade systems. Provide input on material selection, system performance, and durability. Liaise with facade engineers and third-party consultants for calculations and testing.

6. Project & Team Management

Manage multiple facade design packages simultaneously under tight deadlines. Supervise and mentor junior designers, draftsmen, and BIM modelers. Ensure adherence to project timelines, design quality, and internal review protocols.

Qualifications & Skills:

Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical / Architectural Engineering or related field.

3-5 years of UAE/GCC experience

in facade and aluminium system design. Proficiency in

AutoCAD

(2D/3D), Revit, and MS Office; knowledge of Rhino, SolidWorks, or Tekla is an advantage. Strong understanding of curtain wall systems, aluminium profiles, glass types, sealants, and cladding materials. Ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings accurately. Good communication skills for client and consultant interaction.
