About the role As part of our rapid growth in the UK and Middle East, we are looking for an experienced, highly motivated and entrepreneurial Executive Advisor with a strategy and public policy background to help shape our growing offering, identify and cultivate client relationships to support business development activities and win work, and support the development of our growing Strategy & Public Policy team, which sits within GHD\xe2\x80\x99s broader Strategy Consulting business practice. The role will be based in the UAE with a strong focus on the GCC, but broader responsibility for managing an EMEA team spanning Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and London. To that end, travel will be required in this position, both domestically within the UAE, as well as internationally within the EMEA region, with a focus predominantly on GHD\xe2\x80\x99s regional offices in the UAE and Qatar. International travel is anticipated to be ~35%, split predominantly between London and Doha, plus regular presence between our Abu Dhabi and Dubai offices on an as needed basis for team and client management. Working predominantly with government, semi-government, and government owned entities, this position offers the opportunity for an experienced senior policy professional to work directly with government to impact strategic and policy outcomes by shaping how government designs and implements strategy, informing economic decision making, and creating and transforming government institutions to maximise public value. The position offers the opportunity to lead and grow GHD Advisory\xe2\x80\x99s strategy and public policy practice, develop team members in their capacity to solve complex government challenges, and cultivate relationships with strategic clients across our regional Strategy & Public Policy portfolio. Core responsibilities
  • To deliver GHD Advisory\xe2\x80\x99s services to our clients pertaining to the Strategy & Public Policy practice, spanning areas within the strategy, public policy, economics, and government transformation fields.
  • Leads efforts, in collaboration with other market-facing colleagues, to secure a pipeline of work for the Strategy & Public Policy team, with an aim of expanding and diversifying the practice, and meeting financial and utilization targets, under the direction of the Strategic Consulting Business Group Leader.
  • Leveraging internal and external relationships to drive business development activities within the team.
  • Provide direction and coaching to develop team members and contribute to the overall functioning of the Strategy & Public Policy team.
  • Technical leadership on projects as required and direction and input on tenders/bids or proactive client proposals.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, Project Directors and Project Teams.
  • Supporting our clients in operating more effectively both at an organizational and sector level to drive performance and better serve their communities.
  • Leading project delivery and managing project teams focused on government strategy, public policy, economics and economic decision-making, and organizational transformation of government entities, from design through to implementation.
Skills, experience and qualifications
  • 15+ years of experience working on public policy, strategy, organizational design and governance projects in a government sector context. Previous experience working in a consultancy is highly desirable.
  • A proven work winner with the commercial skills to generate new business.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and leading teams, and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and with people across all levels in an organization.
  • Good commercial and financial awareness, responsibility for financial targets and budget achievement, and a track record of work winning in a consultancy context.
  • Comfortable with significant client interaction and interest in establishing relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas optimally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Confidence to work effectively in a high-energy, fast paced environment.
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills; e.g. relates well to colleagues, clients and business contacts, and can influence to achieve positive results.
