to safely operate hydraulic excavators in a [construction / mining / utility] environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of excavation techniques, equipment maintenance, and site safety protocols. This role plays a vital part in our site operations, supporting excavation, trenching, grading, and material handling tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate excavators to dig trenches, foundations, or pits and move earth or materials.
Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance checks.
Follow blueprints, site layouts, and supervisor instructions to carry out excavation tasks accurately.
Load and unload materials from trucks or into containers.
Safely work around other workers, utility lines, structures, and environmental conditions.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, material moved, and hours operated.
Ensure safe operation of equipment and adherence to company and site-specific safety policies.
Communicate clearly with ground crews and other equipment operators to ensure smooth workflow.
Perform minor servicing and report any mechanical issues to the maintenance team.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
Valid operator certification or license for excavator operation.
Knowledge of safety standards and procedures for heavy equipment operation.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and grade stakes.
Strong attention to detail and spatial awareness.
Physically fit and able to work in a demanding outdoor environment.
Working Conditions:
Work in various weather and terrain conditions.
May involve overtime, weekend, or night shifts.
PPE (personal protective equipment) must be worn at all times.
Exposure to dust, noise, and machinery vibration is expected.
