Eu Taxonomy Researcher

Job Description

The EU Taxonomy is a green classification system that translates the EU’s climate and environmental
objectives into criteria for specific economic activities for investment purposes.
The researcher will contribute to identify, quantify and analyse companies’ involvement in EU Taxonomy
sectors, including but not limited to forestry, agriculture, renewable energies, real estate, construction,
transportation. He/she will carry out qualitative and quantitative assessments on: (1) substantial contribution
to at least one of the EU’s climate and environmental objectives; (2) whether the company is involved in
activities harming any of the objectives; and (3) whether the company observes minimum social safeguards.
All of this will be used to arrive at the EU Taxonomy alignment calculation.
Under the direction of the EU Taxonomy Product Manager and the Production Team Manager, the
researcher will be responsible for:
  • Collecting, reviewing and summarising relevant information from corporate websites, annual
  • reports, sustainability reports and other sources (financial reporting, investor presentations,
  • stakeholder communication) for evidence of involvement;
  • Explore a company’s direct activities and those linked with its subsidiaries and associates;
  • Carry out segment / product sales revenues estimates;
  • Write a qualitative synthesis of a company’s involvement;
  • Answer internal and external demands for targeting, collecting and summarising specific research
  • themes/activities
  • Deliver the research within the timelines outlined in V.E‘s processes and quality standards;
  • Contribute to the production of research pieces derived from screening lines and on associated
  • bespoke demands;
  • Monitor key challenges and trends associated with the research;
  • Bring ideas to support the continued development of the research line
  • These missions are not exhaustive and can be scalable.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and/or 3 years experience in related discipline (Sustainability,
  • CSR, Sustainable Finance, ESG)
  • At least 2 years relevant work experience in ESG research
  • Understanding of and strong interest in ESG / CSR issues desirable
  • Excellent proficiency of written and spoken English (working language), with ability to analyse,
  • Synthesise and editing skills
  • Knowledge of other languages is desirable, but not a requirement
  • Ability to collect and manipulate quantitative and qualitative data
  • Proficient in technical document research and information organisation. Knowledge of SINOT a
  • plus.
  • Highly organised and good attention to detail
  • Ability to work autonomously adhering to deadlines, balancing production volumes with quality
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Package (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), ideally with proven ability
  • to manage large datasets in Excel
  • Team spirit, communication, and good listening skills
