Job Summary: The Estimator/QS is responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with construction projects, analyzing project specifications and requirements, and preparing detailed cost estimates. The role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, materials, labor, and market conditions to ensure competitive and accurate bids.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Analysis:
Review and analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documents to understand project requirements.
Conduct on-site visits to assess project conditions and gather relevant information.
Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary data for accurate estimates.
Cost Estimation:
Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs.
Utilize construction estimating software and tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency in the estimation process.
Stay informed about market trends, material costs, and industry best practices to ensure competitiveness.
Bid Preparation:
Develop comprehensive bid proposals and pricing documentation.
Work closely with the bid team to ensure timely and accurate submission of bids.
Collaborate with other departments to incorporate their input into the bid process.
Risk Assessment:
Identify potential risks and uncertainties in project estimates.
Work with project teams to develop strategies to mitigate risks and uncertainties.
Provide recommendations on pricing strategies to enhance project profitability.
Vendor and Subcontractor Negotiation:
Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids.
Negotiate pricing and terms with vendors and subcontractors to achieve cost-effective solutions.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate and organized records of estimates, bid documents, and correspondence.
Prepare and present reports on estimated costs, cost variances, and other relevant information.
Qualifications:
Bachelor\'s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
Proven experience as a Estimator in the construction industry.
Proficiency in construction estimating software such as Planswift,Candy Software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
