Job Summary
The Equipment Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy construction equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders, rollers, backhoes, and other machinery used in the construction, maintenance, and repair of roads, buildings, and other infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Operate a variety of heavy equipment (e.g., excavator, dozer, grader, loader, roller, skid steer) according to project requirements and safety standards. Inspect and perform routine maintenance checks on equipment before and after operation. Read and interpret construction plans, grades, and site layouts. Load and unload materials safely and efficiently. Follow directions from supervisors to meet project specifications and deadlines. Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and site-specific procedures. Report equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly. Assist with general labor and other tasks as needed on the job site. Maintain accurate logs of work performed, hours operated, and fuel usage.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED (preferred). Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator in the construction industry (2-5 years preferred). Valid driver's license; CDL or heavy equipment operator certification a plus. Knowledge of construction site safety practices and procedures.
