Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers has an immediate opening for an Equipment Inspector in Dubai (JAFZA). This role is ideal for someone with a background in mechanics who is knowledgeable with conducting heavy equipment inspections. No auction experience is needed to work in this role, and lots of training will be provided.
The Opportunity:
- Precisely gather and verify equipment inventory information (e.g. contract proofs, equipment additions, serial numbers, etc) related to the Detailed Equipment Information (DEI) Program.
- Be responsible for assessing equipment and composing photos for the DEI Program.
- Verify all equipment descriptions based on the Equipment Standards Manual.
- Identify and record all equipment components, accessories, and asset details.
- Perform visual inspection (e.g. wear points, damage, hour meter readings, etc) and functional testing (e.g. basic operations of the asset) on equipment related to the DEI Program.
- Assist the Sales Team (e.g. Territory Managers) with equipment appraisals.
- Be responsible and accountable for quality assurance of equipment data input and associated information of inspected assets.
- Promote a culture where the health and safety of our employees and customers is a top priority for all.
- Assist the Sales team with appraisals and write-ups in the field between peak periods.
- Provide assistance as required to the DEI Team.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Equipment Manager.
- Actively support the RB Unreserved Commitment to Safety: to send everyone home, every day, the way they came to work, by taking personal responsibility for your safety and safety of your team, co-workers, and customers.Here\'s what you bring:
- You have at least 5 years of experience in equipment management (inspections, inventory, and appraisals) and/or inventory control management, preferably in the auction or heavy equipment business.
- High school graduate with some post-secondary education is considered an asset, such as a Technical Diploma or Heavy Duty Mechanic Certificate.
- Intermediate proficiency level using current MS Office Suite products (Word, Excel).
- Proficiency in using technology such as computers and digital cameras.
- Strong written, spoken, listening, and interpersonal communication skills in English.
- Experience operating heavy equipment would be ideal but is not required. Forklift certification is an asset.
- Proven ability to effectively interface with Sales and Operational teams, as well as customers. You must have a strong customer service orientation.
- You must be process-oriented, hands-on, and ready to roll up your sleeves to succeed in this role.

- Maintain a valid, clean driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
- Work both indoors and outdoors year-round, and climb on and off large equipment and trucks
- Work regular overtime, including weekend hours, at onsite auction sales.
