Job Purpose

To deliver high-quality teaching and learning to Year 1 pupils in line with the school's curriculum framework, ensuring outstanding academic progress, strong behaviour management, and excellent pastoral care in a safe, stimulating learning environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Learning

Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective lessons for Year 1 pupils. Teach in line with the

British Curriculum or Cambridge International Curriculum

. Use a range of teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners. Maintain high expectations for behaviour, learning, and achievement. Use assessment to monitor progress and inform planning. Provide appropriate support, challenge, and differentiation.

Assessment & Progress

Assess, record, and report on pupils' attainment and progress. Maintain accurate pupil records. Attend progress meetings and contribute to intervention planning where necessary.

Classroom Environment

Create a safe, attractive, and stimulating classroom environment. Ensure classroom displays celebrate pupils' work and support learning. Promote positive behaviour and strong routines.

Pastoral Care

Promote pupils' wellbeing, safety, and personal development. Maintain positive communication with parents. Safeguard pupils at all times in line with school policy.

Professional Responsibilities

Work effectively as part of a team. Attend staff meetings, training, and professional development. Contribute to school life, events, and extracurricular activities. Follow all school policies, including safeguarding, behaviour, and health & safety.

Essential Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Education or related subject. Teaching qualification. Experience teaching in

primary education

, ideally Year 1. Strong classroom management skills. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Strong written and spoken English. Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Desirable (Advantageous)

Experience of working with the British National Curriculum
