The Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research in Abu Dhabi is looking to add one or 2 English Editors to its Publications Department. Its a full time positon in Abu Dhabi that comes with a decent salary, a healthy work/life balance (early finish on a Friday and very few after hours demands), as well as fantastic colleagues. The English Editor will play a pivotal role in shaping publications by fixing accuracy, clarity, and coherence in written content. You will work closely with a team of researchers and writers to produce engaging and informative materials that contribute to research and policy guidance in the UAE. Responsibilities: Editing and Proofreading: Review and edit articles, reports, and print books for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and style, ensuring they adhere to editorial guidelines. Content Quality: Ensure the accuracy of facts, data, and citations in all publications, maintaining the highest standards of research integrity. Clarity and Coherence: Improve the clarity and coherence of written materials, making complex topics accessible to a broad audience. Style Consistency: Maintain consistency in writing style, formatting, and citation methods throughout all publications. Collaboration: Collaborate closely with researchers, writers, and graphic designers to create visually appealing and well-structured content. Deadline Adherence: Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet publication deadlines. Research Assistance: Occasionally provide research assistance, including fact-checking and source verification. Qualifications: Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in English, Journalism, or a related field. Proven experience as an editor, preferably in a research or publishing environment. Exceptional command of the English language, including grammar, punctuation, and style. Familiarity with academic and research writing conventions. Excellent attention to detail and an eye for consistency. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Knowledge or interest in regional geopolitics, society, military, and security issues is a plus.
