The Engineering Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the hotel's engineering and maintenance team. This position ensures that all hotel systems -- including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life safety -- are operating efficiently and safely. The Engineering Supervisor supports a high standard of guest comfort, safety, and satisfaction by ensuring a well-maintained physical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and schedule daily maintenance tasks, repairs, and inspections across all hotel facilities.
Assist the Chief Engineer in managing the Engineering team, including training, task delegation, and performance monitoring.
Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public spaces, mechanical rooms, and back-of-house areas to ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness.
Respond promptly to guest room or public area maintenance requests and ensure timely resolution.
Maintain preventive maintenance programs for equipment such as HVAC, boilers, elevators, kitchen equipment, lighting, and water systems.
Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and hotel standards, including fire and life safety systems.
Support and coordinate with contractors and service providers for specialized repairs or installations.
Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work order records, and inventory of tools and supplies.
Monitor utility usage and implement energy-saving initiatives where possible.
Assist in emergency situations such as power outages, floods, or other facility-related incidents.
Promote a culture of safety and hospitality among the engineering team.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in engineering or building maintenance preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience in hotel or facility maintenance, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
Strong knowledge of hotel building systems: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire alarms, and elevators.
Familiarity with preventive maintenance systems and building management software (BMS).
Working knowledge of OSHA, local building codes, and fire safety regulations.
Good communication and leadership skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, or holidays as needed.
