Job Description

Due to anticipated growth throughout 2023, Wood is presently inviting Expressions of Interest for Engineer-Valves for our Abu Dhabi Engineering team. This role is subject to project award which is estimated to be in early 2023.

The position is for detail engineering of Oil and Gas based life cycle extension project. The engineer in this position should have significant experience and knowledge of Process (Control, Anti-Surge, Butterfly, On-Off, ESD) Valves with specific interest in design engineering for selection of new valves.

The scope and responsibility involve providing technical solutions for selection of new valves as replacement due to obsolescence as part of Brown Field engineering considering the current site issues and end-user enquiries, lead engineering studies and develop design deliverables for valve procurement. This role will also require the candidate to support Process. Piping and Field Instrument engineering including rotating machinery components and auxiliary equipment.

Responsibilities

+ Specific knowledge of valves & its design.

+ In-depth knowledge of various material (non-metallic & metallic) and corrosion knowledge for valves

+ This role will have defined responsibility to provide technical decisions on Valve selection from manufacturers based on design deliverables like datasheets, role also requires knowledge of steam turbine design and auxiliaries.

+ In depth knowledge of various testing methods of valves complying to International Standards viz. hydro test, leak testing, high pressure gas testing, torque testing, partial stroke test, FAT, and type testing like fugitive emission, Hyperbaric, bend testing, Fire Safe tests etc.

+ Support Instrument Field engineers proactively during development of design engineering deliverables related to process valves.

+ Collaborates with Client, Manufacturers EPC Contractors in reviews, discuss selections, solutions for testing and incorporates feedback.

+ Development and release for Field Implementation procedures, product definition documents and product manufacture process requirements.

+ Engineer shall also have a thorough understanding of thermodynamic and mechanical calculation towards product design and engineering.

+ Attendance in Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and support EPC Contractor during site execution and Site Acceptance Test (SAT)

+ Bachelor's/ Master's degree in Mechanical engineering or related technical field

+ Minimum 5 years of engineering experience, preferably in design, manufacturing and testing of various Oil & Gas process application valves (including steam applications).

+ Ability to lead independently with clarity on scope and responsibility.

+ MUST be conversant with International Codes and Standard

+ Ability to comply to Project HSE Philosophies

+ Ability to interface directly with Client, Valve Manufacturers and EPC Contractors.

+ Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

+ Ability to make quick, informed decisions on a regular basis

+ Ability to manage engineering related issues and projects deadlines.

+ Familiarity with product repair methods for major valves and their components.
