Position Overview
The Engineer - Geotechnical role at AECOM Dubai leads geotechnical site supervision activities on complex infrastructure and construction projects. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct and oversee geotechnical investigations including soil and rock sampling, borehole logging, test pits, and coordination of field and laboratory testing
  • Analyse soil, rock, groundwater, and geological data to provide engineering recommendations
  • Prepare geotechnical reports, foundation design recommendations, and soil parameter assessments
  • Perform slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, and earthworks analyses
  • Review and approve geotechnical submittals, method statements, and material test results
  • Recommend and assess ground improvement techniques including compaction, grouting, vibro-compaction, soil stabilisation, and dewatering systems
  • Identify and assess geotechnical risks such as settlement, liquefaction, erosion, and soil collapsibility
  • Monitor excavation, foundation, piling, shoring, and other ground engineering activities on site
  • Coordinate with structural, civil, and infrastructure teams to align geotechnical conditions with design requirements
  • Review and evaluate piling works including bored piles, driven piles, sheet piles, micropiles, and microtunnelling activities
  • Supervise geotechnical testing such as SPT, CPT, FDT, plate load tests, and permeability tests
  • Review contractors' geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring plans including piezometers, inclinometers, and settlement markers
  • Ensure geotechnical risks are identified, mitigated, and communicated to design and construction teams
  • Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, value engineering, and problem-solving sessions
  • Prepare technical memos, site observations, NCRs, and follow up on corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, BS, ASTM, Eurocode standards, and local authority regulations
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering, Master's degree preferred
  • Professional Engineering licence or equivalent certification
  • Minimum ten years of experience in geotechnical engineering and site supervision
  • Proven experience on large-scale construction projects in the UAE or similar environments
  • Microtunnelling experience
  • Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and ground improvement methods
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant geotechnical software
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, multidisciplinary environment
  • High attention to detail with strong commitment to quality and safety
