Job Description

Job Overview

:

The Electrician is responsible for maintaining, installing, and repairing the electrical systems and equipment within the hotel, ensuring that all electrical work is done safely and in compliance with regulations. This role involves troubleshooting, inspecting, and maintaining electrical systems to ensure the safety and comfort of hotel guests and staff. The Electrician will also work closely with the facilities management team to ensure minimal disruption to hotel operations.

Key Responsibilities

:

Electrical System Maintenance

: Regularly inspect, test, and maintain electrical systems such as lighting, wiring, switchboards, backup power systems, and outlets throughout the hotel.

Repairs

: Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues in hotel rooms, lobbies, kitchens, and other facilities, including faulty wiring, lights, circuit breakers, and outlets.

Installations

: Install new electrical systems, lighting fixtures, appliances, and other electrical components in guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.

Upgrades and Modifications

: Upgrade and modify existing electrical systems to ensure they meet safety codes and energy efficiency standards.

Compliance

: Ensure all electrical work complies with local safety codes, regulations, and hotel standards. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of electrical code changes and safety guidelines.

Emergency Response

: Respond to electrical emergencies promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to hotel operations and guest experience. Address any urgent power outages, electrical hazards, or system failures.

Preventive Maintenance

: Conduct regular preventative maintenance checks on electrical systems to prevent malfunctions and extend the lifespan of electrical equipment.

Collaboration

: Work closely with the maintenance and facilities teams to plan and execute scheduled work, especially during off-peak hours to minimize guest disturbance.

Documentation and Reporting

: Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance and repairs, including work orders and completed projects. Report any issues to the Facilities Manager for further action.

Energy Management

: Assist in implementing energy-saving practices, such as installing energy-efficient lighting and systems, and advising on electrical usage reduction.

Safety Standards

: Ensure the use of proper safety equipment and protocols while performing all electrical tasks. Perform all work in a safe and efficient manner to avoid accidents or electrical hazards.

Qualifications

:

Education

: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an electrical apprenticeship or formal training program is required.

Experience

: Proven experience as an electrician, preferably in the hospitality industry or commercial buildings.

Knowledge

: Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, wiring, electrical codes, and safety standards.

Skills

: Ability to use electrical testing tools and equipment, and experience working with various electrical systems such as lighting, HVAC, and backup generators.

Physical Stamina

: Ability to work in confined spaces, on ladders, and lift heavy equipment as needed.
