Job Description

Job Purpose:

To perform high-quality electrical arc welding and fabrication tasks on structural steel components, plant equipment, and support infrastructure within the steel manufacturing facility, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, safety standards, and production requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform arc welding (SMAW/MMAW), MIG, and TIG welding on various steel components. Fabricate, assemble, and repair steel structures, frames, pipelines, and equipment parts according to technical drawings and welding procedures. Operate welding machines, cutting torches, grinders, and other tools safely and efficiently. Read and interpret fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and job specifications. Conduct inspections of welds to ensure quality, alignment, and strength as per internal QA/QC standards. Assist in the fabrication and installation of plant infrastructure, supports, conveyors, and other mechanical assemblies. Maintain cleanliness, safety, and proper condition of work area and welding equipment. Ensure welding jobs are carried out with attention to minimizing distortion, defects, and rework. Support shutdown maintenance, emergency repairs, and installation of new equipment when required. Comply with all workplace safety, environmental, and PPE protocols as per EHS and OSHAD guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

High School Certificate / ITI or Diploma in Welding Technology or related field.

Experience:

Minimum 3-5 years of industrial welding experience, preferably in a steel manufacturing or heavy fabrication environment.

Certifications:

Certified Welder (e.g., 3G/4G welding certification) from a recognized body (preferred). Knowledge of ASME, AWS, or EN welding standards is an advantage.

Skills and Competencies:

Proficiency in electrical arc welding (SMAW) and gas cutting. Ability to weld in various positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead). Good knowledge of metallurgy, materials, and welding electrode types. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documents. Strong focus on quality, precision, and attention to detail. Physically fit and capable of working in hot and confined environments. Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to follow instructions.

Work Location:

Steel manufacturing plant/fabrication yard.

Working Hours:

8 to 10 hours/day, 6 days/week (overtime as per operational needs).

Environment:

Hot, dusty, and noisy industrial setting. PPE required at all times.
