for Polytechnic University in Fiji to deliver competency-based training to students in electrical installation, maintenance, and safety. This role is integral to equipping students with practical and theoretical knowledge that meets both local and international industry standards. The trainer will play a key part in developing a skilled workforce for Fiji's growing technical sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver hands-on and classroom instruction in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems.
Teach electrical principles, circuit design, wiring techniques, safety protocols, and maintenance practices.
Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments aligned with the national TVET curriculum.
Conduct practical evaluations and support students in work-integrated learning environments.
Maintain safe and well-organized workshops and ensure proper use of tools and equipment.
Monitor and report student progress, attendance, and competency development.
Engage with industry partners for curriculum alignment, student placements, and guest lectures.
Stay updated on electrical industry standards, tools, and emerging technologies.
Qualifications & Experience:
Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Installation or Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 5 years of industry experience in electrical systems and installation.
Experience in technical or vocational teaching is highly desirable.
Sound knowledge of electrical codes, health and safety regulations, and troubleshooting techniques.
Strong communication and instructional skills.
TVET Trainer Certification or willingness to obtain one.
