To carry out electrical maintenance, repair, and installation work in residential, commercial, or industrial facilities. The Electrical Technician ensures safe and efficient functioning of electrical systems and equipment in compliance with FM standards and safety regulations.
Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems such as lighting, power distribution, DBs, control panels, and switchgear.
Troubleshoot electrical faults and repair or replace defective wiring, components, or fixtures.
Ensure uninterrupted power supply by inspecting and testing electrical connections and equipment.
2. Installation & Testing
Install new electrical equipment, lighting fixtures, switches, sockets, cables, and conduits as per layout or supervisor instructions.
Conduct testing and commissioning of newly installed systems.
Ensure proper earthing and bonding of electrical installations.
3. Safety & Compliance
Adhere strictly to electrical safety codes, company policies, and statutory regulations.
Ensure lockout-tagout (LOTO) procedures are followed during repair or maintenance.
Report any unsafe conditions, electrical hazards, or near misses immediately.
4. Support Building Systems
Maintain and troubleshoot building electrical systems including elevators, HVAC controls, fire alarm panels, emergency lighting, and UPS systems.
Support energy efficiency initiatives and suggest improvements.
5. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate logs of work done, inspections, and spare parts used.
Update maintenance checklists and provide feedback to the supervisor for planning.
Assist in asset tagging and maintaining electrical inventory records.
6. Coordination & Teamwork
Work collaboratively with mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing teams for cross-disciplinary tasks.
Communicate effectively with team members and report progress or delays in job execution.
7. Tools & Equipment
Use appropriate tools, instruments (multimeter, megger, clamp meter), and PPE in all electrical work.
Maintain and store tools and testing equipment properly after use.
Qualifications & Skills:
ITI/Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
2-5 years of experience in electrical maintenance within a facilities management environment.
Good understanding of single-phase and three-phase systems.
Ability to read electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
Knowledge of local regulations and DEWA/SEWA standards is an advantage.
Physically fit and willing to work in shifts or on-call as needed.
