The Electrical Technician is responsible for carrying out preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of electrical equipment and systems to ensure safe, reliable, and uninterrupted plant operations. The role involves troubleshooting, installation, inspection, and testing of electrical systems in compliance with safety standards, maintenance procedures, and operational requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Electrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical systems including motors, panels, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, and control circuits.
Troubleshoot electrical faults in low voltage and medium voltage systems to minimize downtime.
Carry out routine inspections to identify potential issues and ensure system reliability.
Installation & Commissioning Support
Assist in installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems.
Ensure electrical installations comply with approved drawings, specifications, and safety standards.
Support shutdown, turnaround, and maintenance activities as required.
Safety & Compliance
Follow electrical safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and permit-to-work systems.
Ensure compliance with site safety rules, electrical codes, and maintenance procedures.
Report unsafe conditions, near misses, and incidents to supervisors.
Documentation & Reporting
Record maintenance activities, inspections, and fault rectifications in maintenance logs or CMMS systems.
Maintain accurate records of equipment condition and repair history.
Assist supervisors in preparing maintenance reports and job completion records.
Coordination & Teamwork
Coordinate with maintenance engineers, supervisors, and operations teams for planned and breakdown jobs.
Support other technicians and contractors during maintenance activities.
Respond promptly to emergency electrical breakdowns.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 5 years of experience as an Electrical Technician.
Experience in industrial, oil & gas, power plant, or petrochemical environments preferred.
Hands-on experience with motors, panels, switchgear, cable termination, and electrical testing equipment.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
Knowledge of electrical drawings and schematics
Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices
Ability to work independently and under pressure
Good communication and teamwork skills
