Electrical Engineer (Scada Control Focus) - AeroFarms AgX Ltd. (Abu Dhabi, UAE)

Summary:

The Electrical Engineer will join an experienced team of specialists working closely with multiple departments to ensure success of long-range goals and strategies. Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Design Manager, the Electrical Engineer is responsible for the support of electrical system design, prepare equipment specifications, computer-aided design, detailing, creating line layouts, troubleshooting, functionality, and improvement of our fully controlled farming systems and supporting equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the design, development, modification and implementation of equipment and processes to aid in the farming systems.
• Reading and understanding electrical plans, wiring diagrams, and equipment's specifications
• Prepares technical drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics, cost estimates, BOM, and specifications of electrical systems to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements
• Participate in the design and development of Power Management Systems and modern industrial SCADA systems for industrial facilities based on various industrial automation software platforms. Program user interfaces and data reporting for SCADA
• Choose sensors and network hardware that work efficiently with SCADA system and existing network infrastructure
• Design electrical controls boxes and/or work with local assemblers to set spec and manage QC expectations/inspections
• Assists the operation and maintenance teams to develop preventive maintenance programs to keep the equipment running reliably and at peak efficiency, trains Operations personnel on safety rules and procedures operating the electrical equipment.
• Collaborates with various teams establishing and executing design criteria with all stakeholders.
• Assist in the preparation of engineering project proposals.
• Work according to project timelines and required processes
• Coordinate with vendors and develop detailed Requests for Quotation
• Hands on support of new and existing equipment and processes.
• Assists with repairs of the control equipment.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• BSc. or BE in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• Master's degree in a related field is a plus
• 5+ years of experience in related position
• Previous experience in Food, Agriculture, or Agriculture Technology is a plus.

• Able to create and conduct presentations to the management and stakeholders.

• Advanced skills with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience designing, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting distributed control systems in an industrial setting, including programming of automation controllers, SCADA systems, and HMIs.
• Proficient knowledge of computer systems, operating systems, and computer hardware.
• Experience specifying, installation, and calibrating many types of instrumentation including temperature, pressure, level, weight, and flow rate measurement devices and control valves.
• Experience with electrical design and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
• Knowledge of industrial automation communication protocols such as Modbus, serial, TCP/IP, Ethernet, etc.
• Embedded programming experience in 8bit or 16bit microcontrollers
• High level programming experience in Python, JavaScript, C or C++.
• Knowledge with PLCs and ladder logic.
• Must be familiar with codes and standards of NEC, IEEE, NFPA, ANSI, and API.
• Knowledge of Wago, Siemens, Allen Bradley PLC's,
• Previous experience with Ignition or Wonderware SCADAs is a plus.
• Hands on electrical experience and the ability to troubleshoot complex equipment, including electrical process equipment, process automation systems, etc.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA codes is a requirement.
• Knowledge of Food Safety and Quality (FSQ) codes is a plus.
• Knowledge of Emirati codes and regulations is a plus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

• This is a full-time in-person position with normal work hours and workdays. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
