Job Description

Job Purpose:



To manage, supervise, and execute electrical engineering and maintenance activities for the steel manufacturing facility, ensuring all electrical systems, machinery, and equipment operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards and Abu Dhabi regulations.

Key Responsibilities:



Plan, design, and oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and power distribution for steel production lines. Conduct fault diagnosis and troubleshoot breakdowns in electrical systems, minimizing production downtime. Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance schedules are implemented for motors, transformers, drives, switchgear, and control panels. Review electrical designs, drawings, and schematics; ensure compliance with relevant codes (IEC, NEC) and safety regulations. Supervise installation and commissioning of new electrical systems and energy management systems. Collaborate with mechanical and automation engineers to support process control systems (e.g., PLCs, SCADA). Implement energy-saving initiatives and monitor power consumption trends for operational efficiency. Maintain proper documentation of electrical systems, drawings, maintenance logs, and technical reports. Ensure adherence to safety procedures (LOTO, arc flash protection, etc.) and compliance with OSHAD and EHSMS regulations. Coordinate with external contractors, suppliers, and local authorities (e.g., ADDC, Civil Defense) as required.

Qualifications and Experience:



Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.

Experience:

Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in heavy industry or steel manufacturing, including HT/LT systems, power distribution, and plant maintenance.

Certifications:

Membership or registration with the Society of Engineers - UAE (preferred). Knowledge of DEWA/ADDC regulations and EHSQ standards.

Skills and Competencies:



In-depth knowledge of electrical systems in industrial manufacturing plants. Proficient in PLC, VFDs, motor controls, transformers, and power systems. Skilled in reading electrical layouts, single-line diagrams, and P&IDs. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and decision-making skills. Familiar with international electrical standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC). Excellent communication and team coordination skills. Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, and electrical design software (ETAP, EPLAN, etc.).

Working Conditions:



Location:

Steel manufacturing plant (industrial setting).

Working Hours:

8 to 10 hours/day, 6 days/week. On-call duty for emergency breakdowns may be required.

Environment:

Exposure to high-voltage areas, heavy equipment, and production noise. Compliance with PPE protocols is mandatory.
