We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Electrical Design Engineer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of designing robust and efficient electrical systems for diverse projects, coupled with strong technical leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the detailed design, engineering, and documentation of all electrical systems for assigned projects (e.g., commercial, residential, industrial, infrastructure).
Prepare detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, control system diagrams, wiring diagrams, and equipment layouts using software like AutoCAD and Revit.
Perform comprehensive electrical calculations, including load schedules, short-circuit analysis, voltage drop calculations, cable sizing, and illumination calculations (using Dialux/Relux).
Develop technical specifications, Bill of Quantities (BOQ), and equipment data sheets for procurement purposes, ensuring compliance with project requirements and international standards (e.g., IEC, BS, NEC, DEWA, ADDC, etc.).
Review and approve vendor submittals, shop drawings, and material samples to ensure compliance with design specifications and authority regulations.
Coordinate effectively with architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, and project managers to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with other disciplines.
Attend design review meetings, provide technical guidance to junior staff, and mentor team members in best design practices.
Support the project team during the construction and commissioning phases, resolving site issues related to electrical design.
Stay updated with the latest industry technologies, design codes, and authority regulations in the region.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience
in electrical design engineering, preferably within a consultancy or contracting environment in the UAE/GCC.
Proven proficiency in using industry-standard design software:
AutoCAD
is essential, with experience in
Revit
(BIM) highly desirable.
Expert knowledge of electrical design principles for low and medium voltage power distribution, lighting, earthing, lightning protection, fire alarm, and low current systems.
In-depth understanding of relevant local and international electrical codes and regulations (e.g., DEWA/ADDC regulations, relevant ISO standards).
Excellent technical writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
