Description: SALARY $85,000 - $95,000 SUMMARY Establish and promote programs which establish and maintain a safe, accident free and healthy work environment. This includes maintaining compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, other regulatory authorities and providing the facility with professional guidance for the effective administration of the company's Health and Safety programs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rules and regulations. Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices. Prepares studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel. Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective and preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented. Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions. Complies and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies. Oversees waste handling and disposal, including training to employees for proper handling of and disposal of all wastes from the facility. Coordinates actions taken in cases of emergency, including contacting outside agencies as needed and internal response. Maintains safety files and records and reports to OSHA, DOT, EPA and other regulatory agencies. Implements safety and health plans. Implements safety training which includes: PPE, confined space, lockout/tag out, fall protection, respiratory protection, forklift safety, emergency training, flammable materials, hazard communication, back, and slip trips and falls safety training. Prepares reports needed for hazardous waste, spill prevention, and storm water. Involved with all meetings and contact with OSHA, and EPA. Maintains incoming Safety Data sheets and prepares Safety Data sheets for finished goods. Requirements: SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL TRAINING To perform this job successfully, an individual must complete and maintain Safety Training according to the Safety Training Matrix. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or closely related degree required. 5+ years of experience with Environmental, Health and Safety within a process-oriented production environment. Ability to identify and analyze EHS issues and problems and to recommend and implement solutions. Experience in developing and presenting Safety training to all levels of employees. OSHA training certifications preferred. Process Safety Management experience a major plus. REACH and TSCA compliance experience preferred. The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities. Display excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Be a strong leader and team player and demonstrate ability to interact with all levels of the organization. Working knowledge of domestic federal, state, and local health and safety regulations, ordinances and practices. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and regulatory agencies. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plan and solid geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Example of these conditions include beards or sideburns that interfere with the facepiece seal or valve function, certain dentures or dental conditions, facial deformities (e.g., scars, deep skin creases, prominent cheekbones), or the use of jewelry or headgear that projects under and interferes with the facepiece seal.
