Job Overview

The Teaching Assistant is responsible for supporting the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children aged 6 months to 5 years. This role involves assisting in daily classroom activities, ensuring cleanliness, helping with children's personal care needs, and maintaining a positive, engaging learning environment in line with the EYFS framework. The Teaching Assistant must possess a warm and friendly demeanor, with a strong ability to connect with both children and staff, and must adhere to the nursery's values and policies.

Key Responsibilities

Child Interaction and Support:

? Assist in providing age-appropriate learning experiences that foster children's intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development.
? Ensure the safety and well-being of all children, continuously supervising and adhering to safeguarding guidelines.
? Assist children in daily tasks such as feeding, hygiene and nappy changing.
? Engage children in activities that support the EYFS curriculum and promote child-led learning.
? Support play activities, ensuring safety and engagement.
? Treat all children with dignity, respect, and model positive behavior.

Curriculum and Classroom Support:

? Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing the EYFS-based curriculum through structured play and planned activities.
? Help create and maintain an inviting, clean, and organized classroom environment.
? Aid in preparing teaching materials, setting up resources, and assisting with lesson plans and activities.

Parent and Teacher Communication:

? Maintain open, positive communication with parents, sharing updates on daily activities and learning experiences during handover.
? Report observations and concerns about children to the Lead Teacher to ensure early intervention.
? Ensure professional and enthusiastic interaction with parents and caretakers.

Classroom Maintenance:

? Assist in daily and deep cleaning routines to maintain hygiene and safety standards in the classroom and play areas.
? Ensure classroom equipment, toys, and resources are sanitized and in good repair.
? Participate in regular cleaning duties as part of a rota and assist with other cleaning tasks as required.

Administrative Duties:

? Help maintain accurate records and documentation, including attendance and incident reports, as needed.
? Assist in creating visual displays and documentation panels to showcase children's work and learning progress.
? Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development to enhance skills and comply with KHDA requirements.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education:

? Cache Level 2 or 3, ongoing or completed, or an equivalent recognized qualification.
? Understanding of the EYFS framework, in-the-moment planning, and child-led learning.

Experience:

? At least 2 years of experience as a Teaching Assistant in an early years setting.
? Knowledge and hands-on experience with children aged 6 months to 5 years.

? Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
? Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
? Proactive, dependable, and able to handle multiple responsibilities.
? Flexible and able to adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
? Commitment to safeguarding, health and safety, and children's well-being.

Physical and Mental Demands

Physical:

? Regularly required to lift and carry children.
? Frequently required to bend, stoop, and engage with children at their level.
? Able to stand and move for 90% of the workday.
? Actively participate in physical activities with children, such as running, jumping, and dancing.
? Respond promptly and appropriately to unexpected situations.
? Maintain a calm and positive demeanor in stressful or high-pressure situations.
