The British Embassy Dubai has a vacancy for a General Maintenance Technician, job grade S2 on a fixed-term contract for two (2) years.

The jobholder will be a member of a Technical Works Group responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance work as well as taking responsibility for cleaning and set up of temporary accommodation located on site.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Support or assist team members in undertaking complex repairs.
  • Undertake basic repairs with limited supervision which may include MEP and civil works.
  • Undertake routine maintenance activities based on planned preventative maintenance guidelines for the offices, compound grounds and accommodation.
  • Clean, maintain, make up and set up of on-site transit accommodation, reporting any faults/damage to line manager.
  • Be aware of and follow the relevant Health and Safety (H&S) guidance when undertaking the works.
  • Escorting contractors whilst visiting site.
  • Assist with event set up.
  • Assist with Estates Team/CS tasks as required.
The above list is not exhaustive, and the jobholder will be required to be flexible and take on other ad hoc tasks as required.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience 1
  • Previous experience with delivery of hard and soft FM services
  • Technical certification and/or details of relevant training
  • UAE driver\'s license
  • Attention to detail and initiative
  • Excellent team working skills, with strong ability to build co-operative working relationships across a large network, including external contacts.
  • IT literate and experience with Microsoft office primarily using Outlook, Excel, MS Teams.
  • Fluent in verbal English.
  • Good interpersonal skills.

Working hours and remuneration:

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, which includes 25 days of leave per annum (calculated pro-rata)

Salary is at AED 5,124 per month.

There are no other allowances payable as part of this package. No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

The Embassy is open from Monday to Friday, from 07:30 to 18:00. Conditioned working hours are 35 hours per week and specific working hours for this role will be confirmed at a later time.

The successful candidate will be required to transfer their visa under the Embassy\'s sponsorship.
