The National Laboratory is seeking a skilled and reliable Geotechnical Driller to support field operations in soil investigation and subsurface exploration. This hands-on role is essential to the success of our geotechnical projects, involving borehole drilling, in-situ sampling, and data collection under the supervision of senior staff. Who You'll Be Working With In this role, you will report directly to the Drilling Supervisor and dot lined to Operations in Charge / Senior Engineer. You'll work closely with the Head of Geotechnical Department, Drilling operations team, Department's administrators, Laboratory team, Reception Team.

Job Responsibilities

Familiarize yourself with the company Quality Manual.

Conduct SPT, coring, water sampling, and water level measurement as per applicable standards and codes. Handle all rig and drilling operations on-site, ensuring efficiency, safety, and quality in execution. Collect representative in-situ soil/rock and water samples, ensuring no contamination, with proper labeling, handling, and transportation to the lab. Inspect and ensure the rig and equipment operate at full performance; report failures/breakdowns immediately and ensure preventive/on-site maintenance is carried out.
Record all in-situ test results (e.g., SPT, coring) in the log sheet and ensure sample delivery to the office is accurate and timely.

Submit field test data to the Senior Drilling supervisor / Driller or Engineer In-Charge, ensuring clarity and completeness of subsurface and groundwater information. Conduct daily checks on drilling equipment and sampling tools before starting operations. o Fill in the daily driller's worksheet accurately as per company procedures. Familiarize yourself with the company Quality Manual and ensure strict compliance. Follow the safety work program and housekeeping requirements on all drilling sites. Perform other field testing and reporting duties as instructed by the Senior Driller or Engineer In-Charge. o Verify existence of services (utilities) at proposed drilling locations before commencing operations. Coordinate with the nearest workshop for urgent rig part repairs or maintenance. Report any mechanical disorders or equipment/tool damage to the Senior Driller or Engineer In-Charge.

Job Requirement

Minimum 2-3 years of experience in geotechnical drilling or related fieldwork; candidates with strong practical experience may be considered without a formal degree. If no field experience, a diploma or graduation from a technical school related to drilling, mining, or geotechnical studies is required. Good knowledge of soil sampling procedures, borehole drilling, and field data recording. Ability to read and follow drilling plans, logs, and verbal/written instructions. Basic mechanical knowledge for performing daily equipment checks and identifying maintenance issues. Must be physically fit and willing to work in outdoor and demanding site conditions. Familiarity with safety procedures and commitment to adhering to all health and safety regulations. Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions from senior drillers or site engineers. Strong attention to detail, especially in sample collection, labeling, and reporting. Valid UAE driving license (preferred but not mandatory). Basic English communication skills required (reading/writing); knowledge of Arabic or other languages is a plus.
