Job Description

A DOH-Licensed Dental Assistant supports dentists in providing safe, effective, and high-quality patient care. The role includes clinical assistance, infection control, patient communication, and administrative support in accordance with Department of Health (DOH) regulations and clinic policies.

Key Responsibilities Clinical Support.

Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials before procedures. Assist the dentist chairside during examinations and dental procedures (e.g., restorations, extractions, prophylaxis, impressions). Take and process dental X-rays as permitted by DOH regulations. Record patient information, vital signs, and treatment notes accurately. Prepare impressions and models and assist with laboratory tasks when required.

Infection Control & Safety

Maintain strict sterilization and infection-control procedures. Clean and disinfect dental equipment according to DOH standards. Ensure compliance with all DOH and clinic safety protocols.

Patient Care & Communication

Provide pre- and post-treatment instructions to patients. Assist patients with appointments, forms, and treatment information. Ensure patients feel comfortable and supported throughout their visit.

Administrative Support

Manage patient records and documentation accurately. Schedule and confirm appointments. Track and maintain dental supplies and inventory. Support insurance documentation and billing when needed.

Qualifications

Valid

DOH Dental Assistant License

(or eligibility). Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program. CPR/BLS certification (as required by local regulations). Experience in a dental clinic preferred. Knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, and procedures. Strong communication and patient-care skills.
