About the Role

The Director Web Technology is responsible for overseeing the development, enhancements and maintenance of our websites and applications, ensuring they align with business goals and deliver exceptional performance and user experiences. This role will require strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
This position works in close coordination with the VP Information Technology. This person works closely with internal and external team members,vendors and partners, providing strategic direction and guidance on our websites, Apps and related systems such as booking engine and payment gateways.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: Provide strong technical leadership and guidance to the web development team, setting the direction for technology choices, best practices, and development methodologies.
• Web Development Strategy: Develop and implement the long-term web development strategy aligned with the company\'s overall goals and objectives. Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve the online platforms.
• Team Management: Manage and mentor a team of web developers, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment. Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify opportunities for professional growth.
• Project Management: Oversee multiple web development projects simultaneously, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. Collaborate with project managers, designers, and stakeholders to define project scope, requirements, and deliverables.
• Quality Assurance: Implement rigorous testing processes to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of web applications. Identify and resolve any issues that arise during the development lifecycle.
• Web Architecture and Infrastructure: Define and maintain the overall web architecture, making decisions on frameworks, tools, and platforms. Optimize the web infrastructure to handle high traffic and deliver excellent site performance.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with marketing, product, and IT teams to integrate web applications with other systems and ensure seamless user experiences across various platforms.
• Security and Compliance: Implement and enforce security best practices to safeguard sensitive data and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
• Budgeting and Resource Planning: Manage the web technology budget, allocate resources effectively, and make informed decisions on investments in tools and technologies.
• Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the team, encouraging innovation, learning, and knowledge sharing.
• Responsible for overall performance of the Web Technology platform.

Skills & Educational Requirements

• Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field.
• Proven experience (5+ years) in web development, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
• in-depth knowledge of web technologies, including but not limited to HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Python, Ruby, Java, or other relevant languages.
• Experience with content management systems (CMS) and e-commerce platforms.
• Strong understanding of web security, performance optimization, and SEO best practices.
• Demonstrated success in managing and leading cross-functional web development teams.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
• Proven track record of delivering successful web projects on time and within budget.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
• Creative problem-solving skills and a passion for innovation in web technology.
• Reporting Skills, Administrative Writing Skills, Microsoft Office Skills, Managing Processes, Organization, Analyzing Information, Professionalism, Problem Solving, Scheduling staff, Inventory Control, Verbal Communication
• Thorough understanding of process improvement and Agile Project management methodology
• Thorough knowledge of infrastructure design and configuration
• Understanding of CRS technologies including interfaces with POS and PMS
• Understanding of reservation transactions flow
• Deep understanding of payment applications and interfaces
• Understanding of programing languages
• Deep understanding website technologies
• Preferrablly Understand Hospitality Operations, Hospitality Applications and related Hardware.
• Preferrablly Project management related certification like PMP or Prince 2
• Experience with mobile app development and responsive design technology.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and cloud-based infrastructures.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
• Prior experience in the web technology domain within a similar industry.
• Minimum of 10 year experience in website development management (can be outside of hospitality industry) required
• Minimum of 5 year experience in IT Hospitality Management preferred
