Director, Supply Chain Capability Development Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Grade: GG15 JOB PURPOSE BAE Systems is the UK Government's nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force aircraft and train RSAF personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons. BAE Systems Saudi Arabia is committed to supporting the Saudi Arabian National Agenda including Saudisation and the training and development of Saudi National capability through the growth of the Saudi National Partner Companies thereby reinforcing Industrialisation and Partnerships. The role will involve creating procurement solutions, requiring the job holder to plan, deliver and deploy appropriate procurement and supply chain interventions and resource in support of business aims. Lead the development of supply chain solutions in KSA, in order to ensure that KSA suppliers have the capability to deliver current and future requirements of BAE Systems and our Customers. JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES The role holder is expected to: Set strategic direction, leading and influencing internal and external stakeholder relationships to ensure the product or service provision: Meets the governance requirements of the business and our customers. Delivers optimum value for money. Achieves the required service level as agreed with internal stakeholders. Champion the development and implementation of procurement strategy, governance and innovative change programmes, ensuring consistency and effective improvement in procurement services, embedding a culture of continuous improvement and the sharing of best practices. Work with the business as a trusted partner utilising market intelligence and supply chain expertise to offer alternative solutions and ensure informed business decision making, aligned to business strategy. Role model exemplary business acumen. Ensure there is a robust supplier performance and management process in place, to mitigate any business risk Utilise business and supplier knowledge to understand root cause, identify trends and put in place actions in line with business needs. Lead relationships with suppliers that encourage collaboration and sharing to foster creative and innovative business solutions. Manage and develop team/s to ensure procurement resources are deployed to best effective and that talent is managed in line with Functional requirements and changing business needs. Ability to deputise for the Senior Procurement Leader. Be seen by internal and external stakeholders as a subject expert and primary leader for the Procurement team within a business. Be an ambassador and raise the profile of the Procurement Function. Utilise knowledge of the supply base and market to inform business decisions. You define your teams contribution to the IBP, functional and strategic frameworks and clearly communicate this to the team and wider stakeholder community Create an environment for high performing teams and individuals through setting robust PDR objectives, providing ongoing performance feedback and development planning and creating a coaching culture. Ensuring the team are suitably qualified and experienced to undertake the package of activities agreed, identifying interventions as applicable. Mentor and develop procurement team members Accountable for ensuring your team operates within the governance framework and assurance activities are undertaken Accountable for discharging an agreed workload, working within procurement policy, ensuring priorities are managed and issues are escalated when outside of your sphere of control The role holder is responsible for taking reasonable care of their own health and safety ensuring high standards for safety, health and environment (SHE) in our organisation are maintained. Contribute and influence the delivery of the functional and line of business IBP Act as ambassador for the Procurement Function, defining the strategic direction by influencing and partnering with senior stakeholders to deliver the company strategy RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION The holder must: Hold MCIPS or equivalent professional qualification and/or Qualified to Degree standard or equivalent Ability to develop and lead a high performing team, enabling a positive working culture that embraces diversity of thought. Excellent negotiation skills that drive positive business outcomes and ability to influence at all levels. Have extensive experience working within a procurement and/or similar environment, developing and improving supplier capability and performance. Strategic thinking, with the ability to translate this across levels of the organisation. Significant leadership experience of managing people and complex projects.
