New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint an Associate Director, Artistic Planning reporting to the Executive Artistic Director.

As the NYUAD Arts Center at NYUAD moves into their 5th season, it is a key time to expand the impact of The Arts Center while maintaining the programming excellence, academic integration in both curricular and experiential education, and community engagement. The creation of this role is key to supporting the Executive Artistic Director in driving new initiatives while maintaining the excellence of the highly active programs of The Arts Center's season.

The Associate Director of Artistic Planning will supervise a team of associate producers, who will manage the day to day events at the center creating a more sustainable model for the staff and providing additional support to all departments, and stronger cross-campus integration.

The ideal candidate will be someone with both exceptional attention to detail and the interpersonal skills to work with diverse constituencies in advancing productions and overseeing the implementation of all of The Arts Center's public programs. The Associate Director of Artistic Planning will report to the Executive Artistic Director and work closely with all department leadership to drive center wide initiatives and ensuring that all events at The Arts Center represent the core values of excellence, collaboration, creativity, accessibility, innovation, respect, and understanding. The Associate Director of Artistic Planning will also work in close partnership with the Associate Director of External Relations and Partnerships, NYUAD faculty, and the student life departments to insure growing academic and extracurricular partnerships. Furthermore, the Associate Director of Artistic Planning will work closely with rental clients and community use partners, to ensure that events originating outside the university reinforce NYUAD's standards of quality and core values.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategize execution plan of the artistic season. Provide curatorial input
Provide oversight and advance management for all events in the season in collaboration with associate producers
Work with the academic department heads and key professors to advance curriculum development and integrated outreach projects
Represent The Arts Center at International conferences and festival when the Artistic Director is not available
Represent and speak for The Arts Center at campus and country wide events, festivals and meetings when the Artistic Director is not available
Working closely with Executive Artistic Director and other leaders of the team to proactively drive new initiatives to ensure deadlines are met and maintain mission alignment
Develop, execute, track, and monitor the budgets for all programs in consultation with Artistic Director and artist liaison team
Ensure that advance schedules and timelines are set and effectively managed by producing team in communication with artists, creative team members, and production staff
In collaboration with Associate Director of External Relations and Partnerships, ensure successful planning for audience engagement and educational activities, master classes, workshops, etc
Collaborate with manager of administration to advance performance contracts for artists, partners and academic partnerships
Manage associate producers, artist liaisons, and producing interns, to ensure that all artist residencies are effectively implemented
Represent and speak for the Arts Center at campus and country wide events, festivals and meetings when the Artistic Director is not available
As the role of the Executive Artistic Director has grown in terms of duties within the University, Country and Internationally, there are often many events that need to be attended to at the same time
The Associate Director of Artistic Planning would have the knowledge and vision of the Executive Artistic Director to accompany and/ or sit in for them in these moments and report back so that initiatives can continue to move forward
Working closely with Executive Artistic Director and other team members to proactively drive new initiatives and over to ensure deadlines are met and maintain mission alignment
Represent the Arts Center at International conferences and festivals when the Executive Artistic Director is not available. As the Arts Center has grown in International status, the need to represent the center in high level events locally and internationally has become vital to the growth and status of the center
Required Education:

Required Experience:
Minimum of 10+ years' work experience in managing the performing arts preferably with a range of disciplines: dance, theater, and music. University experience is a plus
Effective skills in planning, contracting, budgeting, scheduling, and the implementation of projects with a high level of attention to detail are required. Excellent record-keeping skills, organization, and ability to multi-task. Advancement management for projects delegated to others to execute
Flexible and resourceful problem-solving abilities
Ability to be present in academic, industry and diplomatic environment with confidence and with a keen eye to the interests and vision of The Arts Center
Exceptional communication skills and cultural sensitivity, and ability to deftly balance artist and Arts Center needs
Regional knowledge or experience is considered an asset
