To oversee the overall administration of the University of Sharjah's Libraries, including management, policy development, library collections and facilities by making recommendations, managing day-to-day operations, as well as planning and directing library activities and staff.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
Manage the hiring process for the library department including preparing initial job descriptions, requests to recruit, selection and interview process in order to ensure the best and most suitable candidates are selected for the available vacancies.
Ensure Library science is updated by staying current with developments in library science, information literacy, and best practices to best serve the patrons.
Lead the development of the Library's KPIs and be the point of contact between the department and the Office of Strategic Planning in order to report on the department's progress and prepare the necessary action plans. As well as ensure that each team member has a good understanding of the department's KPIs and how their roles can impact their achievement.
Manage the department's budget, track expenditures, ensure that adequate provision is made for all activities, and are within the limits of the budget.
Facilitate communication between the Library and other departments, to ensure that any correlated and linked job tasks are completed smoothly and in a timely fashion.
Provide various reports, strategic plans, analyses and statistics related to the Library when requested by top management.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to prepare professional documents, in both Arabic and English.
Excellent working knowledge of personal computer applications with an emphasis on MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, and Teams.
Excellent knowledge of academic library references and research methods, including using electronic information sources, and preparing subject guides, bibliographies, handbooks, and other materials to support the information needs of faculty and students.
Advanced ability to support diverse groups of students, faculty, and the community and provide them with a variety of references.
Ability to devise research strategies and prepare guides, references, brochures, and other materials to support faculty and student information requests.
Ability to implement and use systematic planning and assessment techniques.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of bachelor's degree in Library Science, Library Information Systems, Business Administration, or a relevant discipline.
Above 15 Years of UAE experience in a leadership position preferably in higher education institutions.
A higher qualification (Master's or Ph.D.) in the Library Sciences is a plus.
Priority to UAE Nationals.
