A senior role that will ensure Stryker's associates and businesses in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, benefit from effective, prevention-oriented, and sustainable security and readiness programs that mitigate risk to our people, assets, and reputation (brands, intellectual property), while facilitating business objectives in complex security environments. The role will identify and focus on threats posed by geopolitics, crime, conflict, civil unrest, extremism/terrorism, business espionage, corruption, and insider threats. The role will also regularly and proactively engage with government, security, and intelligence services.


Reporting to the Senior Director International Security, this role will further develop Stryker Global Security's in-region presence outside of the United States and will be expected to represent the program and advance objectives in a culturally sensitive and relevant manner. Strong engagement and collaboration with site and regional leaders is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate significant experience of effective delivery in a global, highly matrixed organization, and will possess a broad, multi-disciplinary security skillset.

Strategic Scope



In line with the overarching Stryker security strategy, develop and implement long term programs that identify, assess and mitigate risks to Stryker's associates, facilities, proprietary information, and brand/reputation. Establish strong working relationships with and provide consultation and guidance to regional executives and site leadership teams regarding security considerations for new business engagement, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures and continuity of operations. Strengthen, develop and influence Stryker's security minded culture by setting a regionally appropriate security vision, influencing across the business and corporate functions and stakeholder engagement. Develop quantifiable metrics and reports to inform the development of appropriate security programs that support business growth in the region. Analyze security threats and risks inherent in undertaking new business ventures and offer expertise-based risk mitigation measures in complex environments. Implement a strategic plan to strengthen the protection of Stryker's supply chain throughout the region. Working with partner Functions, facilitate crisis management and business continuity programs. Develop and maintain impactful working relationships with national and local security, emergency response, law enforcement, and regulatory authorities, as well as with security directors of other large multinational companies.

Operational & Tactical



Deploy and manage cost effective technology solutions for access control, cameras, alarms, lighting and other facility security measures. Develop management plans for vendors to include guarding and technical security programs. Track metrics and deliver analytical reports associated with implemented security programs. Plan and oversee security risk assessments and annual security reviews at sites to identify critical vulnerabilities and assist in closing these risks through cost-effective, best practice security enhancements. Deliver business-aligned CAPEX and OPEX security business plans that ensure effective security spend. Develop and deliver security awareness and risk reduction training programs. Advise and assist before, during, and after security incidents, including on-the-spot risk assessments and security advice to business travelers. Working with partner Functions, conduct and coordinate investigations to include counterfeit, extortion, product contamination, loss reduction, robberies, employee actions, fraud, corruption, and security threats against business interests and associates. Ensure continued personal and professional development. Be prepared to partner with other members of the Global Security team to mature enterprise-wide initiatives and to support other duties in other regions as required. As necessary and as required, to support the Corporate executive protection program by providing pre-travel logistical assistance and direct operational support to impacted members of executive leadership or large-scale Stryker events as dictated by risk assessments. Oversee regional and site-based operational and systems-based projects to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.

Education & special trainings:



A minimum of a university-level Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 15+ years of corporate security experience. Comprehensive, substantive expertise of best security practices and principles. Advanced and proven broad executive skills and experience in security management, risk management, protective services, investigations, and law enforcement. Capital and operational budget formulation and administration.

Qualifications & experience:



15+ years of experience in the public and/or corporate and/or private security sectors required. People management experience preferred. Experience in strategic business engagement decision making, crisis management and investigations. Fluency in written and spoken English.

Credibility as a senior staff member - capable of achieving and maintaining top management support for security as a business-integrated element that contributes to overall business success. Ability to work independently and rapidly, to set priorities, and to meet targets in an expanding business environment. Deep knowledge of security regulatory frameworks. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify second- and third-order effects. Effective oral communicator and presenter - culturally sensitive and well-informed. Skilled at preparing documentation for submission/presentation to senior leadership. Capable of creating synergies, cooperation and a shared focus. Enables and drives change with a stakeholder focus.
