Established in 2008 as a member of GEMS Education, the Academy is authorised to deliver the PYP, MYP, DP and CP programmes, and is also accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). Our aim is to be a leading world-class IB school that maximises every student\xe2\x80\x99s learning and character to enable them to choose their own successful path, and positively contribute to the local and global society.JOB PURPOSE:The key purpose of the Director of Learning is to work with the Assistant Principals supporting the operational leadership of the Academy by providing effective management for standards of achievement of all students within the curriculum area group or Grade-Level department.With the Assistant Principals, the post-holder will (i) assist with policy and make a significant contribution to the overall planning and development for maximum student success and (ii) realise the ethos of an IB learning organisation with high expectations of students and staff, and a positive approach to internationalism, entrepreneurialism and innovation.Our English department has transformed student outcomes and succeeded in inspiring a love of learning at GEMS World Academy - Dubai, through the dedication of staff, their exceptional subject knowledge, and the department\xe2\x80\x99s forward-thinking approach to the curriculum. The department is highly regarded among our student body for the care and personal support offered to students. We are now looking to appoint a Director of Learning \xe2\x80\x93 English.Genuine alignment with the philosophy of the IB and the values embodied in the Learner Profile are essential, as is a passion for working in our truly diverse and inclusive community. In addition, we seek a candidate with:

• A certified professional teaching qualification at degree level, such as B. Ed, PGCE, PGDE or equivalent with a specialism in English

• A minimum of 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience teaching Upper High School/Secondary English - ideally within an IB curriculum school, however this is not mandatory
• Availability from August 2024
• The experience, personality and educational philosophy to continue to drive the education agenda at the flagship GEMS World school with an truly diverse and international student body
